Explanation of Article 24
It is thanks to the trade union movement that today people - at least in the West - no longer have to work 12 or 15 hours a day and do not have just one day off per week. These achievements -
reasonable limitation of working hours, paid holidays, the right to rest and leisure - are enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as human rights. It is obvious that very many
people around the world - including many children - are excluded from these rights and are exploited in a blatant way.
